GRADE 6: 1. Continue to work on research paper. 2. Read Chapter 6 in handout. 3. Test on Friday, February 3 on the dates and names of the Egyptian dynasties, and dates of special ones named below and each of their major achievement. Copy these into your notebooks:

1. Early Dynastic Period - c. 3100 BCE-2686 BCE
a. Narmer c. 3100 BCE - pharaoh who united Upper and Lower Egypt

2. Old Kingdom - 2682 BCE-2181 BCE

3. First Intermediate Period - c. 2181 BCE-2055 BCE

4. Middle Kingdom - 2055 BCE-1650 BCE

5. Second Intermediate Period - c. 1674 BCE-1549 BCE
Best known for the invasion of Egypt by the Hyksos from the region of Syria, Canaan, and Anatolia. They ruled as pharaohs from c. 1674-1549 BCE.

6. New Kingdom (also known as the Egyptian Empire) - c. 1550 BCE-c. 1069 BCE, including a. Hatshepsut 1479-1458 BCE

The last of the native Egyptian pharaohs. It ended in 323 BCE with the conquest of Egypt by Alexander the Great from Macedonia (Greece).

GRADE 9: Your research papers: Begin preliminary research on your topic.
1. Note cards are required.
2. Visit the library to select your bibliography sources and take notes.
3. You are required to have a minimum of three (3) book sources and a minimum of three (3) approved internet sources. (Approved by Mrs. Walsh.)
4. Thesis statement due Friday, February 3.
5. Outline due Monday, February 6.
6. The paper is required to be 5-6 pages in length. excluding title page, outline, bibliography page.
7. First draft is due Wednesday, February 22.
8. Final draft due Friday, March 2.
